The first being soap nuts, which were sent to me from the Soap Nut Lady, http://www.soapnutlady.com/. These are Nuts that come from a tree in the Himalayas that suds up like commercial soaps when put in the washing machine. They are 100% natural as well as being far more inexpensive then leading organic detergents. I have read reviews and people have said they have left their clothes soft and static free and can't wait to try them out for myself!
This is what they look like up close and personal but to use in a washing machine you put in a small pouch. Other uses include washing your skin, Car and even carpets! Go ahead and read up on this at the website provided above. The Soap Lady has all kinds of information on there from how to use them to where they came from and more!
Update: I have used these for at least 10 loads now and am in love! Our clothes come out nice and soft, even the baby blankets that I usually hate drying but have to deal with getting thrown in occasionally if I want any help from my husband, lol! Also my oldest daughter occasionally pees the bed at night still as we have stopped putting the pull up on her at night and without adding vinegar it takes the urine smell out completely! The only complaint I have is sometimes it takes me a few minutes to find the little draw string bag when transferring laundry from the washer to the drier but it is a minor draw back with the amount of chemicals I am avoiding and the money I am saving. As my husband asks "How in the world doesn't anyone else know about these amazing nuts?" I advice any one of you who are looking for a cheaper and less toxic way of washing clothes to look up the soap lady and give it a try, you can buy in bulk or just a starter package! But for around $20 bucks you can get 70 loads or more! That is well over 4 months of laundry for my family of 4, can't beat that!
The Second product I am reviewing is a Eco friendly lunch box. The snack and sandwich containers are made out of stainless steel instead of plastic. For the last three to four months now, my family has took it upon our self to rid our kitchen of plastic as much as we can. Even the Bpa free items, as they still have PVC in them and we do not want to be consuming anymore chemicals then we already do. I will write a post about the harmful effects and chemicals that plastic contains soon, but, in mean time watch for the review on how my family rates this lunchbox, given to me by The Ultimate Green Store. http://www.theultimategreenstore.com/ (one of my favorite online stores!)
I already have a feeling I am going to have to purchase a few more of these as my husband has claimed it before it has even arrived. Can't wait to give it a try on our next family outing. I think it will be a great thing to have for my toddlers snacks on the go as we never leave the house without a healthy snack in tow!
Update: I received this about a month ago. The lunch box I received from The Ultimate Green Store as a gift was just the medium size tin with a smaller round snack cup with a Bpa free lid. My only complaint is it is kind of small but we love it justt the same! We use both frequently for snacks for my tot on the go! They both are small and compact and fit in the side pocket of the diaper bag perfectly for quick access. They close tightly so we can put all kinds of goodies in there from pudding to crackers. I love it! I am definitely going to purchase a few more so I can take them to work and my husband doesn't have to keep running off with them in his lunches! I honestly can say that the only time it is not in use is when it is being washed! Kudos to the Eco Lunch Box company for making a truly Eco friendly box that I am fond of serving my kids favorite eats in!
